The standout in this quite good collection is definitely “Satisfaction Chistlso, even if it’s so 50s that it feels like you need subtitles to understand it. Multivac, a grendel among giant computers, is a recurring character, dispensing an omniscience we now know as “Google. The most notable of them is “The Dead Past,” which involves a machine that can view any scene in the past–a good conceit, but it’s crammed into a story about an authoritarian government that controls all scientific research, and the story doesn’t develop any of its various ideas enough.

True, some of chlstoso were standouts, even in a uniformly good collection.

I read this as part of “The Complete Stories, Volume 1. The reader is introduced to some mystery ep the exposition, this mystery then is developed throughout the story, and the part that in a novel would be the denouement is delivered in the form of a sentence, or short paragraph, that terminates the story.

This was published in 61 years ago and I expected it to have dated, but it has not, not at all. I owe Isaac Asimov an apology.

After reading the 25 short stories in this collection, I think I have three comments: I generally like sci-fi, and can usually muddle through the pretty dry language that tends to accompany it. To me genius comes with the creation of complete novelty, not necessarily with an invention or scientific discovery, merely with an idea.

While he did not invent science fiction, he helped to legitimize it by adding the narrative structure that had been missing from the traditional science fiction books of the period. For example, many of the stories involve a type of computer he calls a “Megavac”. Ankoku Seiun no Kanata ni. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read.

Or “Living Space”, in itself an interesting take on the multiverse, where the punchline is simply silly. I enjoy the sly humor of many of the pieces Asimov is widely considered a master of the science-fiction genre and, along with Robert A. He also wrote mysteries and fantasy, as well as a great amount of nonfiction. Satisfaction Guaranteed – Claire Belmont is asked to take part in an experiment which would facilitate robots working in individual homes.

Living Space – Clarence Rimbro lives with his family in the only house on their planet, just one of the vhistoso probability Earths. A wonderful collection of Asimov’s short stories Earth is Room Enough is an anthology of Asimov’s early short stories centered on the theme that anything can and probably will happen right here on earth.
