Things improve a bit when Jesus decides to make an appearance at some point, but his life, as we all know, is short-lived and thus we are left even more frustrated not only because of His premature death, but also because he has abandoned us alone with Saramago. I do not know about the other titles, but So let me say that it’s a long and slow to get started but well-written and sophisticated. Honestly, though, the book was worth reading for a moment in which eels and shrimp come to think of themselves as the “chosen” fish when they’re thrown back in the water by Jewish fisherman observing their dietary taboos.
Jesus Himself is fallible even error-prone on some occasionssinful He has lots of sex with Mary Magdalene out of wedlockand, again, nothing like the Jesus we know from Scripture. El argumento es agradable e interesante. Published January 1st by Punto de Lectura first published And the text maybe because of the translation is marred by incredibly long, tedious paragraphs and the tendency of the author to directly insert himself into the text to directly address better still, to interpret and instill into the reader a particular point of view.
Il libro mi sembra una enorme occasione perduta. He makes mountains out of molehills, and fails to give much depth or complexity to what should have been some fascinating characters. I felt it tiring to read, sarzmago, and pointless.
God in this novel is distracted, unloving, unjust, decidedly neither omniscient nor omnipotent, and clearly nowhere near God the Father as seen in the Bible. So, I really wanted to like this one. Nobel prize de Literatura the Gospel according to Jesus Christ responds the desire of a man and a writer to excavate until the roots of the own civilization, in the mystery of its tradition, to extract the essential questions.
This was a tedious read for me. The story explores some deep things, like hypocrisy and guilt. Unlike great authors, Saramago never offers much room for interpretation or the possibility of being wrong or even in doubt. But alas, I have given up my intellectual pretenses and have accepted that I’m a hopeless romantic.
There’s nothing wrong with being firm in your convictions, but good fiction written for the literary set is not made of such one-dimensional thought.
This book made me think “ooh, isn’t this author smart” but I felt nothing for the characters. Didn’t even the Catholic Church back off of that? In all, Saramago’s work has some slight positive elements, but on the whole, I simply find it lacking and will never read it again. I feel very mixed about this book. Una historia muy interesante.
Saramago construye su idea del mundo: The final chapter, which is written in a superb manner. But I found it too wordy which is odd coming from meand I think se was a lost focus on actually setting the book up and carrying it through it a more narrative and stylistic way. Still, it took me a very long time to finish it because for long sections I was not particularly gripped. Yes, I do understand why it was so shocking but those pages were limited to maybe 30 and it is stuff that I have read before.
If I’m going to spend my little free time with a book, I need it to move me emotionally. References to this book La escritura creativa en las aulas: Near the end, Jesus asks God to tell Him what will happen after the former’s death on the cross. I believe I had too much of that in e, earlier years.
I’m done with Jesus stories.
Interesting modern attempt to understand the duality resulting from being both human and divine at the same time, but never having read the novel by Kazantzakis I suspect that this one sarammago not as original as might be at first suspected.
His story is more about about the ordinary, day to day existence with jesucriwto joys, sorrows, confusion, etc. Perhaps that evangello me a lazy reader.
Non ci sono praticamente capoversi, i dialoghi sono intervallati da virgole senza andare a capo, se superano le tre-quattro battute sembra di leggere l’equivalente letterario di una partita di ping-pong. The language is steeped in the ordinary, in the everyday experience of the senses. Jesus meeting Mary Magdalene b. Excelente libro, muy humanista, pocos son los que realamente han pensado que Jesucristo tenia necesidades como un ser terrenal comun, me encanto.
Alfaguara- Fiction – pages.
The story had good pace, the characters were being well developed, but Eavngelio found myself getting annoyed every time I picked it up. Saramago is not my favorite author. According to the author, this book is like a second reading of the Gospels, like a trip to the origins of religion.
I wasn’t necessarily “offended” by this book, as I know many people were it IS mocking and irreverentbut I did not find it to be very interesting, engaging or original.
