This is regretable since it leads to rejection of much of the foundation material important in having a true understanding of the music. The jzz chapter leaves no doubt. Not really a of the music but certainly a very good history of the genre.

The experienced listener and student on Jazz history will not gain much from the body of the book, but should still crack the book just for it appendices, which provide disographies, biographies, histories, appearances of jazz in popular culture, amongst other things.
It accomplished szwes I thought it would and am glad I read it I was not expecting much from this book as it bills itself as “Jazz ” and I’m fairly jaaz in Jazz but my thoughts are always along the lines of “if I can learn one or two things that I didn’t know before then it was worth my time”.
