I wish some more space would have been devoted to certain aspects renderinh developments in rendering beyond Reyes and brute force raytracing.

I usually find books that are too technical impossible to read. I imagine future editions will expand on the lighting of grooms, more on subsurface scattering and the many troubles with color- the chapter on linear vs gamma corrected displays will be an eye-opener to many – Overall, a must for those starting on the lighhting of computer lighting and its many challenges.
The Art and Science of Color New focus on the linear workflow, how to avoid problems with gamma and colorspaces, and why the linear workflow matters in lighting and compositing. There’s a more modern approach to many topics, such as starting with a linear workflow and why that matters, and including technology like ptex and unbiased renderers.
